The central space of an abandoned hotel (Hotel Triton in Andros, built by the famous Greek modernist architect Aris Konstantinidis) is transformed through digital manipulation. The walls and other parts of the building are removed and re-placed behind the openings, blocking the view to the landscape, as well as blocking the exits. The building is thus denied its original function and is instead ‘turned inwards’. In the beginning of the video the viewer witnesses the space being flooded while numerous pieces of furniture literally sink into the image – throughout the duration of the work – provoking a feeling of suffocation and relief. A timeless feeling lends the space another dimension, one that relates more to inner human states.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1526046316102{padding-top: 42px !important;}”]The Hotel 2008, one channel video with sound, 10:47[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”flexslider_slide” interval=”0″ images=”394,395,396,397,398″ img_size=”full” onclick=”” css=”.vc_custom_1519305049323{margin-top: 20px !important;margin-bottom: -10px !important;}”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Sample video: [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The Hotel borrows […]

[10
